Recognize that solar PV systems provide clean, quiet electricity year round

Have you ever heard of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems? They are more familiar than you may think. As sunlight strikes the photovoltaic material that is laminated onto primarily glass and other types of modules, it is converted directly into electricity. The electricity flows into the building's electrical panel where it is either used by the building's electrical load or redirected to the power grid.

Solar PV panels are available in modules that can be rooftop mounted or integrated into building structures in the form of exterior walls, shade structures, and awnings. Large solar PV arrays can be ground mounted to produce large amounts of utility scale distributed generation to power communities.

Before installing a solar PV system, practical PV design elements should be considered to ensure the most effective system application. It is recommended that licensed, bonded and insured electricians who are affiliated with IBEW-NECA install your solar PV system. Be aware that your PV system design and installation professionals need to secure permits from your local municipality or the City of Chicago to ensure safe system operation. Utility approval is also needed.
